President Donald Trump went after “the squad – the four progressive congresswomen and their liberal views – one by one at his campaign rally, which led the crowd to erupt in chants of “Send her back! Send her back!”

Trump rally turns into dissection of “the squad”

Trump turned his campaign rally in Greenville, North Carolina, into a detailed examination of “The Squad,” the self-given name adopted by four progressive Democratic congresswomen — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY), Ilhan Omar (MN), Rashida Tlaib (MI) and Ayanna Pressley (MA). He dissected their liberal views, painting them as extreme positions and suggested they get out of the country.

Trump expands, rather than backs down on tweets

Amid the controversy over his allegedly racist tweets about four progressive Democratic congresswomen, rather than back down, President Trump continued on his criticism of the four women, and began the rally by leveling some of his strongest critiques of the night at Somalian-born Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN).

When the subject shifted to Representative Tlaib, Trump reminded the crowd that she had referred to the president by the “F-word,” and added, “That’s not nice, even for me.”

Discussion of Omar prompts crowd to shout “Send her back!… Traitor!”

“Representative Omar blamed the United States for the terrorist attacks on our country, saying terrorism is a reaction to our involvement in other peoples’ affairs,” Trump began, prompting loud booing from the crowd. “She smeared U.S. service members involved in ‘Black Hawk Down’ — in other words, she slandered the brave Americans who were trying to keep peace in Somalia.”

When discussing Representative Omar, the crowd erupted in chants of “Send her back! Send her back!”

“Omar minimized the Sept. 11 attacks on our homeland, saying ‘some people did something,” Trump continued. “I don’t think so. ‘Some people did something?’ Yeah, some people did something, alright. She pleaded for compassion for ISIS recruits attempting to join the terrorist organization. She was looking for compassion.

Omar laughed that Americans speak of Al Qaeda in a menacing tone, and remarked that, ‘You don’t say ‘America’ with this intensity. You say ‘Al Qaeda,’ makes you proud. Al Qaeda! Makes you proud. You don’t speak that way about America.'”

Members of the crowd could be heard shouting: “Traitor!”

Trump: “Let ’em leave”

“Tonight I have a suggestion for the hate-filled extremists who are constantly trying to tear our country down,” Trump told the crowd. “They never have anything good to say. That’s why I say, ‘Hey if you don’t like it, let ‘em leave, let ‘em leave.’”
