A number of Republicans are accusing the Biden administration of weaponizing the DOJ against parents who speak out to school boards on a number of issues and more top stories in conservative politics.

Republicans accuse Biden of weaponizing DOJ to silence parents’ free speech, alleging hate crimes and domestic terrorism

A number of Republicans are speaking are accusing the Biden administration of using the DOJ as a weapon in order to silence the free speech rights of concerned parents, branding it hate crimes and labeling parents “domestic terrorists.”

Across the country, a number of parents are speaking out at school board meetings against what they believe is indoctrination by schools on a number of issues that parents don’t believe in and many say should not be part of school curriculum. Some of the issues include critical race theory, multiple genders beyond male and female, explicit sex education particularly to younger children, and mask mandates.

In the name of protecting board members and teachers, Attorney General Merrick Garland announced, that through the Justice Department, it would have the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigate an “increase in harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence against school board members, teachers, and workers in our nation’s public schools.”

Days earlier, the Biden administration was pressured by the National School Boards Association (NSBA) to take action against “malice, violence, and threats,” it said could constitute “a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes,” The Daily Wire reported.

Top Republicans sound off over weaponizing DOJ against parents

“Attorney General Garland is weaponizing the DOJ by using the FBI to pursue concerned parents and silence them through intimidation,” Florida governor Ron DeSantis tweeted. “Florida will defend the free speech rights of its citizens and will not allow federal agents to squelch dissent.”

“At his confirmation hearing, Merrick Garland promised not to follow the Obama model of weaponizing DOJ to target & persecute his political opponents,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) tweeted. “Just a few months in, he’s already breaking that promise.”

“Parents are speaking out against Critical Race Theory in schools,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) tweeted. “Now the Biden administration is cracking down on dissent.”

Biden met by hostile protesters in Michigan

On Tuesday, President Joe Biden traveled to Howell, Michigan where he was met by approximately 500 opposition protesters. Many in the crowd told Fox 2 of Detroit they were against the size of the $3.5 trillion spending package, as well as the $1.5 trillion infrastructure package.

“The money has to come from somewhere,” one protester said. “You can’t keep printing it.”

Biden spoke at a training facility for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 324, according to the Detroit Free Press. Howell is located halfway between Detroit and the state capitol of Lansing.

Trump falls off list of Forbes 400 richest for first time 25 years

Former President Donald Trump has dropped off the list of Forbes 400 wealthiest Americans. It marks the first time in 25 years that Trump hasn’t made this annual list, which first debuted in 1982.

His absence, in large part, appears to be because “he is down $600 million since the start of the pandemic,” Forbes reported.

Trump was ranked at No. 339 in 2020, with an estimated worth of $2.5 billion.
